G. K. Chesterton wrote: "the poor sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all." Words for our times.

While the majority of U.S. citizens object to the policies and the corruption of the Trump Administration, the affluent, especially the billionaire class, delight in favorable treatment and the freedom from regulation and restraint on their self-serving behavior.

President Trump operates a brazen racket out of the White House for wealthy Americans  (and some rich foreigners)---give big donations and you will free from legal or political consequences for your malign activities.

Pardons are openly for sale even for those who have committed immense fraud, imported tons of drugs, or assaulted police officers. The rule of law is forsaken and the Justice Department corrupted to support Trump's grift and his donor's misdeeds. The rich are not properly "governed" but enabled to engage in lawless and profitable conduct.

By contrast the majority of Americans are struggling under the impact of inflation pushed higher by Trump's endless Iran War and by his tariffs which Americans pay, not the sending countries as Trump believes.

Republicans have cut deeply into health, education, and and other supports for ordinary citizens. Most of them would agree with Senator Mark Kelly when he says, "you work hard and someone else gets rich."

The right to vote is under increasing threat from Trump who fears the outcome of pending Federal elections. Let us resolve to participate fully in those upcoming elections with a goal of restoring the health of our democracy and to enforcing accountability on Trump and his wayward cronies.
