Making it Home for Dinner: Coastal Coastal Recovery Community Center to honor those lost to overdose
Event Date
Monday, August 31, 2026 - 12:00 pm to 04:00 pmIn honor of International Overdose Awareness Day, Aug. 31 the Coastal Coastal Recovery Community Center will hold a memorial to all those lost to overdose over the years.
CRCC knows the extreme pain of losing someone to an overdose. In 2026, 183 people lost their lives to overdose in Maine, the Center said, in a news release.
"While that number is down from previous years it still averages to one Mainer losing their life each day of this year so far," the release said. "Even one loss is too many as each person that passes is someone’s mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, cousin, colleague and friend."
From noon to 4 p.m., the Center, at 11 White Street in Rockland, will be remembering, sharing stories, and holding space for those that didn’t make it home for dinner.
Part of the mission at CRCC is to teach everyone about Narcan, so loved ones can stay alive long enough to find their way to recovery. Free training and Narcan will be available during this time as well.
According to the Coastal Recovery Community Center, CRCC is a safe, nonjudgmental space for every individual on their way to personal wellness. That pathway is not only for the individual struggling with substance and/or alcohol use, but their loved ones as well. CRCC offers safer use strategies and support aimed at improving health and wellness for people seeking and maintaining recovery.
CRCC serves the entire Knox County community as a welcoming cooling and warming center at its location at 11 White St., Rockland, ME 04841. CRCC welcomes all members of the community to visit.
