Reelect Chip Curry to Maine Senate
Chip Curry epitomizes the axiom “Think Globally, Act Locally.” He knows that issues of education, emergency services, housing are relevant and important throughout our country, and, indeed, the world. Therefore, because he cares deeply, he researches and learns everything he can about these issues. Then he listens to people, learns how local people are impacted and what we want and need. Finally, he acts on our behalf over and over again.
When there was a community meeting about the future of the Waldo County Technical Center, Chip was there. He listened carefully to the presentation and the comments/questions of the people in the filled room. When there were questions about funding streams that no one could answer, Chip explained the funding mechanisms taken by the legislature.
Chip exhibits passionate care for fire fighters, including and centering those who are volunteers, and EMS providers. Preceding the horror of the Robbins’ Mill fire, Chip sponsored LD 679 for hands-on training facilities for local fire fighters and first responders, a need brought up through listening. And, on the day of the tragedy, Chip was on site making calls and doing whatever was necessary to help.
Any conversation with Chip will likely turn to affordable housing and the complexities of it. Last week the legislature enacted four housing bills he sponsored. One raises the cap on bonds to finance affordable rentals and first-time mortgages. The others reduce unnecessary regulatory costs and strengthen local code enforcement capacity.
Re-elect Chip Curry. He cares, listens and acts.
