The Pen Bay Council of the Mid-Coast Board of REALTOR recently presented proceeds from its 2025 fundraising efforts to Homeworthy and Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, two organizations working to expand and sustain affordable housing in Midcoast Maine.
Through community fundraising events held throughout the year, Pen Bay Council members raised more than $11,000. The Maine Association of REALTORS Foundation matched those funds dollar for dollar, according to a news release, bringing the total contribution to more than $22,000 for the two nonprofits.
“The dedication and growing support of the Pen Bay Council of REALTORS and MAR is outstanding!” said Tia Anderson, Executive Director of Midcoast Habitat for Humanity. “Your commitment to our community and the mission of Midcoast Habitat for Humanity is invaluable. This donation will go toward the construction of our ten-home pocket neighborhood, Compass Point in Rockport. Your partnership is helping build brighter futures and we are so very appreciative.”
Homeworthy will use its portion of the funds to support aftercare services that help residents maintain stable housing.
“Homeworthy is incredibly grateful for the generosity from the Mid-Coast Board of REALTORS,” said Molly Feeney, Executive Director of Homeworthy. “This partnership has allowed us to invest in humans and housing at every level—from supporting the completion of 10 affordable housing units last year to investing in the people who live in our local homes by funding key aftercare services. Supporting neighbors to access continuing education, job training, childcare, transportation, and critical healthcare access ensures their housing becomes a sustainable home.”
The Maine Association of REALTORS® Foundation has supported housing-focused nonprofits across the state for more than three decades through a matching grant program that amplifies local REALTOR fundraising.
“The Maine Association of REALTORS Foundation supports local nonprofits that assist Mainers with home affordability while also encouraging local REALTORS to make an impact by organizing micro fundraising events,” said Mary Bumiller, Director of the Maine Association of REALTORS Foundation. “I’m so proud to be a board member of the MAR Foundation knowing we have complemented the grassroots fundraising work of REALTORS across the state for 33 years with nearly $1.9 million in matched funds.”
The Pen Bay Council organizes annual fundraising events to support housing-related nonprofits serving Midcoast communities. The next fundraising event is the Council’s Polar Plunge on March 28 at Lincolnville Beach.
