Thursday, March 12, 2026 - 05:30 pmROCKLAND — Puppetry, magic and storytelling combine in a unique, Olivier Award-winning stage adaptation of the novel Life of Pi in this National Theatre Live presentation at the Strand Theatre. This captured-live screening will take place Thursday, March 12, at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m.
Life of Pi, based on the best-selling novel by Yann Martel, was adapted by Lolita Chakrabarti and directed by Max Webster. In the story, a cargo ship sinks in the middle of the vast Pacific Ocean and a 16-year-old boy named Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with four other survivors – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Royal Bengal tiger. Time is against them, and nature is harsh; who will survive?
"Featuring state-of-the-art visuals, this epic journey of endurance and hope is brought to life in a breath-taking new way for cinema screens," said the Strand Theatre, in a news release.
This production was filmed live at the National Theatre in London’s West End in 2023.
National Theatre Live is an initiative presented by the Royal National Theatre that broadcasts captured-live performances to cinemas, and is now seen by more than 900,000 people worldwide, according to the news release.
