Event Date
Sunday, March 29, 2026 - 01:00 pmOn Sunday, March 29, at 1 p.m., join naturalist Cloe Chunn of the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition on a walk through the sugar maples in Belfast’s Grove Cemetery. Sponsored by the Belfast Garden Club, the event is free and open to the public.
"Sugar maples have been the backbone of Maine for centuries," said the Garden Club, in a news release. "They represent shelter, food and beauty; they are among the forest’s grandest trees. Their bark oozes personality, their leaves glorify spring, summer and fall. Some of the finest in the area are at Belfast’s Grove Cemetery, where the century-old trees grow in a carpet of dense mosses."
Cloe Chunn is a specialist in mosses, and together with members of the Tree Working Group of the Belfast Garden Club, will lead the walk beginning at the parking lot adjacent to the maintenance building.
