Note to all authors: You should check if your book was used improperly by the AI company Anthropic. March 30 is the deadline.

Bartz v. Anthropic is one of the major copyright lawsuits brought by authors against an AI company for using books without permission to train large language models. It was filed by nonfiction authors Charles Graeber (The Good Nurse) and Kirk Wallace Johnson (The Feather Thief) and thriller author Andrea Bartz (We Were Never Here).

  • You could be entitled to approximately $3,000 for each of your books that is included in the Works List if you are a sole copyright owner or approximately $1,500 if you have a publisher (with certain exceptions). The deadline to file a claim in the $1.5 billion Bartz v. Anthropic settlement is Monday, March 30.
