Playwright Richard Dresser, actor Xander Berkely to attend performance, talkback
Event Date
Thursday, March 26, 2026 - 07:00 pmBelfast Maskers will host a talk-back with playwright Richard Dresser and actor Xander Berkeley following the Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m., performance of “Below the Belt” at the Basil Burwell Community Theater, 17 Court Street in Belfast.
Dresser's plays have been widely produced on and off Broadway, in the nation’s leading regional theaters, and extensively throughout Europe, according to a Belfast Maskers news release. He has written for stage, screen, novels, and podcasts, and instructed others on the craft of screenwriting at Columbia University. His satirical "Below the Belt", about three men attempting to work together in a shadowy industrial complex, ran off-Broadway before becoming a long-running hit in Berlin, Germany. It was then adapted as a film, titled "Human Error", which appeared at the Sundance Film Festival.
Accompanying Dresser will be friend and colleague, Xander Berkeley, who played Hanrahan in that film. A veteran film and television actor with more than 200 projects under his belt, including the feature films Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Apollo 13, and A Few Good Men.
Berkely is perhaps best known, recently, from his recurring roles on 24 and The Walking Dead as well as the movie The Ghost Trap —filmed in Maine and based on the novel by Midcoast author K. Stephens.
Tickets for the Thursday show are $10 and there is no additional charge for the talk-back.
The run continues through March 29, Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. with a final Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets—as well as information about the rest of the Belfast Maskers season, auditions, camps, and workshops—can be found at http://belfastmaskers.com.
