SPECIAL EVENT
For the show only, the gallery is offering a selection of original artwork by New York artist Mary Matthews (1927 - 2023), with all proceeds being donated to Homeworthy.
Mary donated a trove of her artwork (watercolors, collages, pastels and transfers) to her longtime friend, Karen Miller (1942 - 2024) of Camden, to offer for sale in the community for the benefit of local charities.
Sadly, Karen passed away before all of the work could be sold and funds donated. The collection includes beautifully matted and loose unframed works in plastic sleeves for a donation between $20 - $100 each. Some framed works are available. Cash or checks (made out to Homeworthy) only please.
Mary found her footing in the IBM Graphics Department in New York and later worked with Charles Eames designing furniture. Mary and her husband Robert, whom she met at IBM, designed and built a home near Castine, where she enjoyed years of honing her talent in fine art and graphic design. Ultimately, Mary and Robert retired to an idyllic farm in Katonah, New York, where they raised horses, llamas, alpacas, Nubian and cashmere goats, and Scottish Highland Cattle. Mary was 96.
