SEARSMONT — A Searsport woman was killed in a single vehicle accident in Searsmont March 4, according to a media release from the Waldo County Sheriff's Office. 

A report of a single vehicle crash was received by Waldo County Regional Communications at approximately 7:51 p.m. on the Belfast Augusta Road West in Searsport. 

The victim, Natalie Austin, 23, was reportedly traveling east in a 2023 Hyundai Tuscon when the vehicle crossed the centerline and exited the roadway. The vehicle then overturned several times before coming to rest upside down, according to the report. 

Austin was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

In addition to the WSO, members of the Maine State Police, local fire departments, and EMS responded to the scene. 

A crash reconstructionist from the Maine State Police responded to assist with the investigation, which remains open at this time.
