Sunday Tidbit: Jesus, My Everything

I asked the Lord, “What theme should I write about for Sunday?” The thought came to me, “What’s on your heart?” I looked inward. “Well, that’s easy,” I responded. “It’s Jesus.”

The name of Jesus is always on my lips. Every night when I snuggle my pillow, I speak His name. Almost instantly, I fall asleep. Jesus is my peace and rest (Psalms 127:2). During the day, I frequently declare His name. Each time I do, I feel His living presence. Just saying the name of Jesus makes my spirit rise up and rejoice. Everything within me aligns with His name.

Jesus is the “I Am,” the always-present one. He is here this very moment. Jesus is a living reality, not a theology. Many try to bring Him down when He is already here (Col. 1:27). Christ is always present; we just need to be present with Him. Our calling is not just to be “Led by the Spirit,” but to always abide in His Presence, the faith that works by love.

“God is love. For he that dwells in His love, dwells in God, and God in Him” (1 John 4:16).

The word “dwells” means a place of habitation. Just as I “dwell” in the home where I live, He is our dwelling place, our home in the Spirit. David said those who dwell in the secret place shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty: the life- giving presence that is our refuge and fortress; (Psalms 91:1,2).  Without this love connection, there is no spiritual life.

I often sing a new song to Him —lyrics that express my heartfelt love, adoration, and praise with thanksgiving. The sacrifice of praise, which Paul expressed as the fruit of our lips (Hebrews 13:15). Through heartfelt worship, I enter into His presence. Here in the light of His Spirit, we have the joy of fellowship, one with another (1 John 1:3-4).

“If we walk in the light as He is that light, we have fellowship with Him and with one another” (1 John 1:7).

During times of duress and stress, it’s remarkable how our minds wander. Often, we imagine the worst before we even reach the bridge we have yet to cross. In such moments, I sing unto the Lord. Almost immediately, His Spirit comes upon me, lifting me above every situation and circumstance. His peace and joy fill my inner being. I have found that Jesus is in everything; we just need to be patient until the answer arrives. He is our wisdom and understanding.

It is not church life, religious activity, titles, fame, or the recognition of men that interests me, but Jesus. He is my life, my everything. In Him I have an abundance. Jesus said He came that we may have life, the abundant life that overflows every area of our lives (John 10:10). This is the supernatural life every Christian is called to live. Nothing else will do, nor should it.

In His grace and love,
