Oceanside baseball swings past Winslow

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity baseball team collected its third win of the season as the host Mariners topped Winslow in a Friday, May 17 showdown in Rockland. 

Courtesy the 5-2 victory, Oceanside improved its record to 3-9 and looks ahead to a Monday, May 20 home contest against Belfast at 4 p.m. 

Oceanside plated four runs in the second inning and one in the sixth frame. 

Winslow tallied a run in the fifth inning and two in the seventh. 

Oceanside record five hits and committed four errors. 

Winslow had five hits and six errors. 

Working the mound for Oceanside was Jonah Carlson (two unearned runs, five hits, four strikeouts, two walks), who pitched a complete game for the Mariners. 

On the mound for Winslow were Cam Winslow (five innings, three runs, two earned runs, four hits, five strikeouts, six walks) and Caden Fitzpatrick (one inning, one earned run, one hit, one strikeout). 

The lone repeat hitter of the game was Oceanside’s Ben Ripley, who recorded two singles, two RBIs and a run. Cole Stevens, also of Oceanside, drove in a pair of runs on a ground out and a sacrifice fly. 

Cody Ivey of Winslow collected a double.
