'No Borders, No Homelessness, No Prisons' workshop in Belfast
"No Borders, No Homelessness, No Prisons!" is a workshop on building mutual aid networks that protect and provide for criminalized people. The workshop will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m., at the UU Church in Belfast.
This workshop invites participants to envision and build systems of care that break away from the violence of borders, prisons, and displacement.
"Together, we will explore how mutual aid can protect and provide for people who are criminalized, unhoused, or targeted by state violence," said Aimee Moffitt-Mercer. "We’ll share strategies, resources, and visions for replacing systems of punishment and exclusion with care, solidarity, and collective liberation."
Ericka Williams Rodriguez is a Catholic Worker dedicated organizer, mother, and community builder committed to mutual aid, direct action, and radical hospitality. She is rooted at Serenity Solidarity - https://www.serenitycmty.org/ - a mutual aid farm near Grafton, New York.
Grounded in the belief that everyone deserves dignity and care, Williams Rodriguez has spent years creating networks of solidarity that feed, shelter, and defend those most impacted by criminalization and exclusion. Her work is rooted in collective liberation and the conviction that communities can meet each other’s needs without borders, cages, or hierarchy.
Participants will leave with practical tools for organizing and a deeper sense of how community power can replace punishment and abandonment with care and collective liberation.
"Through shared stories, strategy mapping, and collective problem-solving, we’ll strengthen networks of solidarity that center dignity, safety, and self-determination," said Moffitt-Mercer.
