China woman dies in single vehicle Searsmont crash
SEARSMONT — A China woman was killed in a single vehicle crash on the Belfast Augusta Road Sept. 26, around 8:42 a.m., according to a media report from Waldo County Sheriff's Lieutenant Cody Laite.
The identity of the deceased has not been released at this time.
Members of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, Maine State Police, and local fire departments and EMS responded to the scene of the accident, where it appeared the operator failed to navigate a curved part of the road, according to the report.
The operator was traveling in a 2013 Honda CR-V, headed east when the vehicle crossed the centerline, ran off the roadway, and struck a tree head on. The crash caused the vehicle to overturn.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation currently, however there is no suspected criminal activity.
