Open Rehearsal kicks off Penobscot Bay Orchestra's fall session
Coming off an exciting summer program that featured a staged production of The Pirates of Penzance, the Penobscot Bay Orchestra will kick off its fall session with an Open Rehearsal to welcome new players on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, Camden.
Any interested orchestral musicians are invited to this first rehearsal of the fall session to see if they would like to join. The orchestra will read through works to be performed at the winter concerts in December. No audition required. Music and music stands will be provided.
The December concerts will feature a flute concerto by François Devienne performed by Oceanside High School junior Miles Curtis, winner of this year's PBO Young Musician Scholarship. The prize includes a full scholarship for private lessons for this fall. Works by Dvořák and Tchaikovsky will also be performed by the orchestra.
The orchestra is supported by the Onion Foundation, the Fisher Charitable Foundation, the Maine Community Foundation, and First National Bank.
