Fatal crash in Hope claims Northport motorcycle operator
HOPE — A Northport man died at the scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck, Monday afternoon in Hope.
September 2, 2025, at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Knox County Regional Communications Center received a report of a serious crash in the area of 767 Hatchet Mountain Road in Hope.
According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, when first responders arrived, they found that a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Channon Stancati, 43, of Northport, had collided with a 2019 Ford F150, operated by Chandler Adams, 37, of Brooks.
Mr. Stancati sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Mr. Adams was treated at the scene and released.
"The incident is still under investigation, and details are limited at this time; however, preliminary indications suggest that road conditions and speed are likely contributing factors to the incident," said the KCSO.
The roadway was closed for several hours to allow investigators time to process the scene; the roadway is now open.
KCSO was assisted by the Knox Regional Communications Center, Hope Fire Department, Northeast Ambulance, Maine State Police, Prosecutorial District Six District Attorney, Maine Office of Chief Medical Examiner, Long Funeral Home, Waldo Regional Communications Center, Waldo County Sheriff's Office, and Creek Hill Towing.
