(Photo courtesy Christopher Ricciotti)A MidCoast Maine Community Square Dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at the Simonton Corner Hall, in Rockport. Emily Jeffries, Maisie Newell, and friends will provide the music. Callers will be Pat Danscen and Chris Ricciotti.
"Our dances are always warm, welcoming and inclusive," said Chris Ricciotti, in a news release.
All dances are taught and no experience is necessary.
Schedule and descriptions for the upcoming dance are provided by Ricciotti as follows:
4:00pm – 5:00pm: Family Dance (great for families with kids and for beginners who want to get more instruction on the basics of dancing)
5:00pm – 6:00pm: Community Pot Luck – come join us for this community meal. Bring your favorite dinner foods to share, or bring snack or dessert foods for later
6:00pm – 8:30pm: Square Dance Party – more experienced level - for teens and adults (and kids 10 years or older or kids who have been dancing for a while)
"Volunteer help is needed to help us continue this series, and we hope you can come and help us out," said Chris Ricciotti. "Your help will ensure we can continue to have dances in the future. We need help with set up before the dance (3 p.m.), door sitters are needed during the dance, and we need help with set up for the pot luck dinner, clean up after the pot luck and clean up at the end of the dance."
