Medomak girls soccer tops Troy Howard

BELFAST — The Medomak Middle School girls soccer team held its season opening contest Friday, Sept. 17 on the road against Troy Howard in Belfast. 

The visiting Riverhawks notched its first score of the game less than two minutes into the contest when the ball deflected off a Troy Howard player and rolled into the net. 

About 12 minutes later, Scarlett Flint scored, after traveling from just defending just outside the 18, to boost the Medomak advantage to 2-0 before Grace Havener stretched it to 3-0 five minutes later. 

Thirty seconds after the halftime break, Rachel Richardson tallied Medomak’s fourth goal of the game. 

A minute later, Troy Howard recorded it’s lone goal of the game courtesy Story Carlson. 

Less than two minutes later, Flint scored again boosting Medomak’s lead to 5-1. 

Haylee Chandler scored 15 minutes later before Julia Hynd tallied the final score of the contest. 

Great defense was played by Rachel Barbour, Kaylee Collamore, Layla Carter and Kendall Simmons in goal, according to Medomak coach Andrea Williamson.
