Medomak 8th girls basketball shoots past Boothbay

WALDOBORO — The Medomak Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team opened the new year with a victory over Boothbay as the host Riverhawks cruised to a 49-19 victory at home Thursday, Jan. 2 in Waldoboro. 

The Riverhawks opened the first half strong by moving the ball well on offense and playing great man-to-man defense, according to Medomak coach Celia Philbrick. 

“We played one of our better games tonight,” said Philbrick. 

Scoring for Medomak were Kylie Blake (two), Kaylee Kurr (eight), Eliza Luce (four), Sara Nelson (nine), Olivia Nelson (10), Haley Puchalski (eight), Eilee Stelzer (six), Mia Yeatts (two). 

Scoring for Boothbay were C. Leeman (five points), L. Champan (eight), A. Barter (two) and L. Pierce (four). First names were not available. 

The next game for Medomak will be on the road Monday, Jan. 6 as the Riverhawks travel to Thomaston to challenge Oceanside.
