Riley School students exhibit 'The Art of Observation' in Rockland during Art Walk
ROCKPORT — Join Riley School on Friday, May 2, from 4 - 6 p.m., at Friends of Maine Coastal Islands and Wildlife Refuge, for The Art of Observation, an art and science installation created by students during their Ecology Week.
Throughout Ecology Week, students explore the diverse ecosystems across midcoast Maine, honing their observation skills to study and sketch the plants and animals they encounter. Their field journals become the foundation for an intricate, large-scale map of the region, featuring multimedia reconstructions of the flora and fauna they identified — each placed in its exact location.
This immersive exhibit invites you to see midcoast Maine through the eyes of young naturalists and artists, blending scientific discovery with creative expression.
This showing is part of the First Friday Art Walk in Rockland and the Riley artists will be present to share the stories behind their art.
"We invite the community to come out and support our students in their artistic and ecological endeavors that tell the tale of Midcoast Maine," said Riley School, in a news release.
