Maine State Police investigate death of missing Thomaston man
The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central is investigating the death of Thomaston man who had been reported missing earlier this month.
On April 17, 2026, a person walking on a dirt road off Wagner Bridge Road in Waldoboro discovered the body of an adult male, according to an April 28 Maine Dept. of Public Safety news release. The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was performed. The body has been positively identified as Darryl Sanborn, 64, of Thomaston.
Sanborn was last seen in Waldoboro on April 5, 2026, and on April 7, 2026, the Waldoboro Police Department requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit Central regarding Saborn's disappearance.
"The cause and manner of death are pending," said DPS. "There is no known danger to the public."
No additional information is being released at this time.
