Little League registration information for Waldoboro, Friendship players

WALDOBORO — Medomak Valley Little League registrations are now open with a deadline of April 10. 

Registrations for the 2021 Little League Baseball/Softball/T-Ball seasons for Waldoboro and Friendship players of Medomak Valley Little League will be accepted Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Waldoboro Recreation Department until April 10.

There will be a signup night Wednesday, March 17 at the Waldoboro Town Office from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, March 26 at Friendship Village School from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

Little League requires a parent or legal guardian present a state certified copy of the child’s birth certificate three proofs of residence (returning players are exempted unless address has changed).

Registration is required even if the child played previously. Registration fee is $30. Additional family members receive a $5 discount. Scholarships are available upon request for those in need.

Eligibility birth dates are as follows: t-ball/baseball born between 9/1/08 & 8/31/17 and t-ball/softball born between 1/1/2008 & 12/31/16. Divisions of play include: t-ball (ages 4, 5 & 6 coed), minor league softball & baseball (ages 6*-11 coach & player pitch), major league softball & baseball (Ages 9-12). *League age six year-olds wishing to play in the minor league division must have played at least one year of t-ball.

To be selected to a major league team, players (ages 9-12) must attend a tryout/evaluation session. Players that played on the Wildcats, Tigers, Panthers, Fillies or Diamondbacks in 2019 need to register, but not tryout. Players who played in 2020 but were not on the 2019 roster still need to try out.

This year’s evaluations will be held at The PITCH in Warren: Friday, April 9 (softball from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and baseball from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and Saturday, April 10 (softball from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and baseball from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.). 

Volunteers are needed to coach and to help in the concession stand and with field maintenance.
