Medomak 11/12 softball wins District 2 championship

ROCKLAND — The Medomak Little League and Five Town Little League 11- and 12-year-old softball all-stars hit the diamond in Rockland Saturday, June 29 for the District 2 championship. 

Medomak entered the contest undefeated and a previous defeat of the Five Town squad. 

By the end of the six inning contest, Medomak’s perfect record remained as the team secured a 15-1 victory and won the District 2 championship. 

With the win, Medomak advances to the state tournament to be played in Glenburn starting July 7. 

Participating in the state tournament will be Ellsworth (District 1), Medomak (District 2), Hermon (District 3), Kennebunk-Wells (District 4) and Windham (District 6). No team will be representing District 5 in the tournament. 

Medomak plated four runs in the first inning, one in the second, one in the third, three in the fifth and six in the sixth. 

Five Town tallied its lone run in the sixth inning. 

At the plate for Medomak were Hope Mason (single), Kytana Williamson (three singles, four RBIs), Olivia Pelkey (single, double, four RBIs), Kendall Simmons (single, two RBIs), Madison Boynton (RBI) and Cora Lee (two singles, four RBIs).

At the plate for Five Town were Mikayla Talbot (two singles), Alexis Leon (single, RBI) and Kerrigan Peterson (single). 

In the pitcher’s circle for Medomak was Williamson, who fanned nine batters and walked two. 

Pitching for Five Town were Emma McFarland (two strikeouts, six walks) and Maya Stone (six strikeouts, 10 walks).
