Foraging Maine Mushrooms: An Introductory Walk with Greg Marley
On Saturday, October 11, from 9 to 11 a.m., join Maine mushroom expert Greg Marley for a walk in the woods and introduction to foraging wild mushrooms at the Jackson Memorial Library in Tenants Harbor. The walk will focus on what is available right now, as well as the more foolproof edibles, and how and where to find them as we move into autumn. The library asks that participants dress adequately for the weather and a walk through the woods on the library’s trails. All ages are welcome with adult supervision.
Greg Marley has been studying, growing, collecting and cooking and eating wild mushrooms for 50 years. He teaches mushroom identification and ecology to aspiring foragers.
Marley is the author of Mushrooms for Health; Medicinal Secrets of Northeastern Fungi (2009) and Chanterelle Dreams, Amanita Nightmares, The Love Lore and Mystique of Mushrooms (2010). He lives and mushrooms along the coast of Maine.
