Brae Maple Farm hosts Open Farm Day celebration, July 27
Brae Maple Farm, in Union, invites the community to join them for Open Farm Day on Sunday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore the beauty and bounty of this working farm while learning about sustainable gardening, local food, and heritage practices.
Guests will enjoy tours of the Master Gardener Volunteer Demonstration Gardens, the 1800s-style Heritage Garden, and the Medicine Wheel Garden inspired by Native American traditions. Visitors can learn about the history and care of these spaces and how they contribute to local food security.
Since 1998, Andrea and Allan Smith have welcomed University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteers to Brae Maple Farm. Volunteers focus on growing fresh produce for Maine Harvest for Hunger, which supports four local food pantries and soup kitchens. The gardens also serve as hands-on learning sites for composting, irrigation, and organic growing practices.
