Portland is the media center of Maine with the highest concentration of TV, radio, and print outlets.

If a journalist connects with your pitch and writes a story or review, that story can sometimes be syndicated into Boston or New England.

And it's not just newspapers and magazines. TV and radio stations such as Maine Public, local NPR affiliates, and independent bookstores (hello, Longfellow Books) actively support authors.

Portland has a reputation for being:

  • Arts-forward

  • Intellectually curious

  • Indie-friendly

I'm a Maine journalist and author who has been on both sides of the pitch. I've put together a bundle that gives you the do's and don't for pitching Maine newspapers, a sample pitch email, a professional one-pager, a editable book launch flyer, and a curated Portland media directory that includes multiple media outlets, contacts, and notes on whether their news desks are open to author stories.

It took probably 20-30 hours to do all this research, so unless you want to do it yourself, this customizable and reusable bundle of five assets is $30.00

Or if you want to do more of the work yourself, each asset can be bought individually (pick and choose) for around $10 apiece.
