    BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department reported the following activity Aug. 1-11. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.

    Aug. 2

    Ryan A. Robertson, 32, of Searsport, was issued a summons for speeding 84 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 1 in Northport. 

    Casey Rairdon, 30, of Belfast, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on Oak Hill Road in Swanville. 

    Barry Weems, 29, of Troy, was issued summonses for operating without a license and failure to provide proof of insurance on Troy Center Road in Troy.

    Aug. 3

    Corporal Cassandra McDonald responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Albion Road in Unity where an operator reportedly lost control of their vehicle while looking for their cigarettes. The vehicle, a 2003 Dodge, went off the roadway to the right, striking a mailbox before continuing across a lawn before coming to rest in front of bushes. The operator was transported to the hospital for treatment of possible injuries after complaining of rib pain. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

    Aug. 4

    Jeffrey Boley, 35, of Islesboro, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on Main Road in Islesboro. 

    Aug. 7

    Dustyn Wood, 30, was arrested for failure to appear. 

    Corporal McDonald responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Main Street and Depot Street in Unity. The driver of the first vehicle, a 2014 Chevrolet, was reportedly traveling behind the second involved vehicle, a 2016 Chevrolet. The driver of the 2014 Chevrolet reportedly told McDonald that the vehicle he was behind was traveling at 20 mph in a 30 mph zone. According to the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet, the driver of the 2016 Chevrolet pulled to the side of the road after the 2014 Chevrolet driver put his hand out the window. The driver of the 2014 Chevrolet reportedly stated he passed the vehicle and continued on to the Depot Street stop sign. The driver of the 2014 Chevrolet reportedly said that as he traveled through the intersection onto Main Street, he hit his brakes intentionally because “he felt that [the 2016 Chevrolet] was following too closely,” according to the accident report. This resulted in the 2016 Chevrolet rear-ending the 2014 Chevrolet.

    According to the report, the driver of the 2016 Chevrolet stated that he was being followed on Depot Street by the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet, who was reportedly making hand gestures directed at him leading him to pull over and allow the vehicle to pass. The operator reportedly stated he then pulled up to the Depot Street stop sign and began to make a left turn onto Main Street, at which point the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet reportedly “hit his brakes instantly,” according to the accident report. The driver reported that he was unable to avoid hitting the vehicle. Neither driver was injured and both vehicles sustained functional damage. 

    Nicholas Poirier, 37, of Knox, was arrested for criminal mischief, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, disorderly conduct, and assault on Bailey Road in Knox. 

    Aug. 8

    Phillip C. St. Lawrence, 31, of Hudson, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on Route 1A in Frankfort. 

    Matthew B. McIver, 33, of Monroe, was issued a summons for operating after suspension on Village Road in Jackson. 

    Ashleigh Gibbs, 30, of Brooks, was arrested for violating conditions of release on Monroe Highway in Brooks. 

    Aug. 10

    Spencer Garvin, 36, of Jackson, was issued a summons for speeding 70 mph in s 50 mph zone on Veterans Highway in Brooks. 

    Isak A. Potter, 21,  of Rockport, was issued a summons for failure to provide proof of insurance on Main Street in Lincolnville. 

    Myles R. Rehlander, 35, of Searsmont, was issued a summons for an inspection sticker violation on Main Street in Searsmont.
