Tomato Tasting event returns to Merryspring
Event Date
Saturday, September 12, 2026 - 12:00 pm to 03:00 pmThe Tomato Tasting will return for an encore at Merryspring Nature Center on Saturday, Sept. 12, from noon to 3 p.m.
The format for this year’s tasting will be much like last year’s, which drew about 50 participants, according to Merryspring, in a news release. The event begins with expert speakers who will focus on growing tomatoes, different seed-saving techniques, and which varieties to select for your garden. That will be followed by the Tomato Tasting itself.
"We will limit the varieties to 30 kinds of tomatoes, but many of them will be new to attendees," said Merryspring, in a news release.
Participants can use the tasting sheet to make notes about each variety. If you are saving seeds, you can use the cups to take the seeds home to process for planting next year, according to Merryspring.
This year’s event is generously sponsored by Barnswallow Books and is free for attendees, but you must register in advance by calling 207-236-2239 or sending an email to info@merryspring.org.
Merryspring is your community nature center offering walking trails, cultivated gardens, wildlife, and ecology and horticulture educational programs all year round. The park is located at the end of Conway Road, just off of Route 1 in Camden behind Hannaford Shopping Plaza.
