The first talk in the Rockport Public Library’s fall series of programs in partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club - Maine Chapter will take place Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. Ecologist, naturalist, and researcher Logan Parker will share insights from his vital research on Maine's aerial insectivores, discussing the trends and challenges facing these remarkable birds, and shedding light on the findings of the Maine Bird Atlas.

 

Parker is deeply dedicated to understanding and protecting Maine's rich biodiversity, according to a news release. He served as the lead technician for the comprehensive Maine Bird Atlas (2018-2022) and is a co-author of its publication. In addition to his extensive work with the Atlas, Parker is the founder of the Maine Nightjar Monitoring Project, and a passionate advocate for avian conservation.
