Thank you, Owls Head Citizens
Mon, 08/25/2025 - 7:49pm
I write to again thank the citizens of Owls Head for including the Owls Head Village Library in the FY 2026 budget warrant. These funds help us continue to be an important part of Owls Head, and to strengthen our outreach to the community. FY ‘25 highlights include:
- partnering with Ash Point Community School to invite Maine author / illustrator Cassie Sano to spend three school periods interacting creatively with students
- hosting Owls Head children’s author and illustrator Annie Higbee for a reading and creative event
- distributing AIO’s free meal kit summer program for children
- welcoming 740 patron and guest visits (639 adult / 101 young readers)
- circulating 766 books (654 adults / 112 young readers) and 71 DVDs.
- cataloging over 225 new and donated books
Thanks also to members of the community for your kind donations. Gifts in FY ‘25 included:
- the Pantalena Book Fund, established to defray our book purchase costs over a five year period
- CLYNK reimbursements from patrons and friends
- works of art for our art auction, and goods for our bake sale
- 21 unsolicited contributions, and responses to our year-end appeal
Again, thanks to all for supporting the Owls Head Village Library - we'll work hard through the year to keep that support, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Greg McElroy is President of the Owls Head Village Library Association
