Noel Paul Stookey with Michael Burd at Camden Opera House, Aug. 29
Noel Paul Stookey, with Michael Burd, kicks off the Labor Day holiday (and Camden Windjammer Festival weekend), Friday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m., on stage at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm Street.
An iconic Maine singer, songwriter and activist, Stookey has been altering both the musical and ethical landscape for decades, both as the “Paul” of the legendary Peter, Paul and Mary and as an independent musician who passionately believes in bringing the spiritual into the practice of daily life.
"His funny, irreverently reverent, thoughtful, compassionate and passionate work is known worldwide," said the Opera House.
Bassist Michael Burd has recorded and toured nationally with Stookey and with the late David Mallett. He also is an educator and captain of Farmington’s Merry Plinksters ukulele ensemble.
Choose-your-own-reserved-seat tickets are available via camdenoperahouse.com or (207) 236-3154. Tickets are $36 in advance, $40 day of show (if available).
This special show is sponsored by Camden Maine Stay Inn and 40 Paper.
