Tess Gerritsen visits Riley School for Theater on Tuesday series
Riley School hosted prolific author and Midcoast resident Tess Gerritsen at its Theater on Tuesday. Tess has a grandchild who attends Riley and spent some time Tuesday afternoon sharing with the community the many joys and challenges of being a writer. A highlight was viewing the same book with four different covers, depending on the publisher’s location in the world. Children asked questions about editing, where Tess’s ideas come from, and what it’s like to go on a book tour.
Tess is set to publish her thirty-third book very soon, and a TV series will also be launched based on her writing. The hit TNT series “Rizzoli and Isles” was also inspired by her novels featuring Jane Rizzoli. Tess’s work has earned her spots on the New York Times Bestseller List, and she has also written screenplays for both TV and the big screen.
While at Riley, Tess shared that much of her writing has been informed by our very own Midcoast, and the fact that so many former government spies choose our beautiful area to retire. She inspired the children present to dig deeper into things they are curious about because they could easily become something bigger.
