Thomaston participates in World Singing Day, Oct. 18
Watts Hall Community Arts is bringing voices together for the third year in a row as it hosts Maine’s only World Singing Day event on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. The gathering will take place on the stage behind the Thomaston Municipal Building, 13 Valley Street.
World Singing Day is a global sing-along held annually on the third Saturday in October. Communities across the world join together in song to celebrate connection, joy, and our shared humanity. Founded in 2012 by musician Scott Johnson, the event is open to people of all ages and backgrounds, with no rehearsals required. Participants simply show up, sing along, and enjoy the power of music together.
"Although Watts Hall is currently closed for renovations, Watts Hall Community Arts remains active in the community and continues to provide meaningful opportunities for connection through the arts," said Community Arts. "Hosting World Singing Day in Thomaston is one way the organization continues to bring people together while its historic space is being improved."
The event is free and open to the public. Song books will be provided in both print and digital format, and the program will last about one hour. While RSVPs are encouraged, they are not required. Donations will be accepted to help support the ongoing work of Watts Hall Community Arts.
