CAMDEN — Max Scholz, 92, captain of the schooner Audacity, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his home in Camden. He shared his life with his co-captain/wife Lavana Snyder.

Max leaves behind children Melissa Scholz, Mark Scholz, Sam Scholz and Ellen, and John Scholz and Kathy; grandchildren Abigail Scholz and Isaac, Spencer Scholz, Nino Esile and Carly, Lucy Scholz and Johnny, Tobias Andrews; great grandchildren Hunter Andrews, Johan Esile and Charlie Esile; bonus daughter Linnea Stromberg Ledwith; bonus granddaughters Aurora Bales and Nolan, Rayne Hanke-Ledwith and Jack, Dakota Hanke-Ledwith; bonus great granddaughter Maren Bales; and many more family members and friends.
