'Fabric Fun With Form and Color' by Barbara Bentley on display in Lincolnville
"Fabric Fun With Form and Color," a retrospective of fifty years of creating fabric art by Barbara Bentley, will be held from Sunday, September 28 through Sunday, October 12, from 2 to 5 p.m., in the Community Building in Lincolnville Center. The Community Building is located at 18 Searsmont Road, Rte. 173 in Lincolnville Center, next to the Meeting House, the home of the United Christian Church (UCC), event sponsor.
Bentley, a Hope resident and long-time member of the United Christian Church, has been recycling, repurposing, and reconstructing fabric creations since high school. Her more recent accomplishments include one hundred quilted "Happy Jackets" for a UCC fundraiser; two dozen choir shawls embossed with pearlie buttons; liturgical banners for the seasons of the church; costumes for the Christmas Pageant; quilted landscapes; and numerous reconfigured wedding dresses and flamboyant hats.
The open reception will take place Sunday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be light refreshments. Music will be provided by UCC pianist Peter Saladino.
Additional viewing times are from 2 to 5 p.m., on Wednesday, October 1; Saturday, the 4th; Monday, the 6th; Wednesday, the 8th; Saturday, the 11th; the closing reception is Sunday, the 12th.
The Community Building is ADA compliant and there is ample parking.
All are welcome.
