Steven A. Crispo, obituary
HOPE — Steven A. Crispo, 72, passed away March 27 at his home in Hope after a lengthy illness. Born on March 16, 1954 in Columbia, South Carolina to Irving and Margaret Crispo. They made the move to Winter Harbor then Sullivan where he grew up and graduated from Sumner High School in 1973 under the alias “Gizmo”.
Steve moved to the midcoast in the early 80’s where he met his wife, Candace, and started a family. He worked at various boatyards over the years, but especially loved his time lobstering with his father-in-law.
Steve was a man of many passions. He loved being a father as well as fishing, hunting, and hanging out listening to rock n’ roll with family and friends. He could also play a mean air guitar! He had a quick wit, a generous heart, and a knack for making everyone laugh. He was well known for his big personality and an unwavering dedication to those he loved; his family, his friends, and his beloved labradors, Ziggy and Hazel.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Candace; son Tyler and wife Alicia Crispo; granddaughter (the light of his life) Maisy Ruth of Lisbon Falls; son Trevor Crispo of Hope; his sisters Susie Crispo of Cherryfield and Carla Osier of Sullivan; sister-in-law Julie DeRice and husband Andy of Nokomis, Florida; cousin Donna Plummer of Cape Elizabeth; nieces Laura Morse and Jill Stewart; nephews Nicholas Morse and Eric Osier. He also leaves behind his best friends and brothers in life, Dale Church, Wayne Lanning, Mike Wood, and Wade Thibodeau.
He was predeceased by his parents, Irving and Margaret Crispo; brother, Dennis Crispo; and brother-in-law, Rodney Morse.
Steve’s legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love will be carried on by those he loved.
Special thanks to the PBMC Cancer Care Staff for taking care of him over the years.
A celebration of his life will be held May 16, 2026, at 1 p.m., at the Old Farmstead, 199 Hatchet Mountain Road, Hope, ME 04847.
