We are excited to announce our relocation to the iconic Downeast Building at 680 Commercial Street, Rockport, Maine.
While the announcement comes on April 1, this move is no joke. It reflects real growth, need and momentum for Midcoast Habitat and the community we serve.
Thanks to the continued support of volunteers, donors, and the broader community, Midcoast Habitat is building more affordable housing than ever. This growth requires larger, more functional spaces that allow us to further expand our efforts to better serve Knox County.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our organization and an integral part of our plan to increase our impact, growing with the needs of our community.” said Tia Anderson, Executive Director. “We are happy to preserve this local landmark as a space dedicated to connection, collaboration, and community impact.”
The move will significantly expand the Midcoast Habitat ReStore, a critical fundraising program that supports the organization’s mission and serves the public. With increased retail space, improved accessibility, and greater capacity for donations, the ReStore will be able to offer expanded inventory, generate additional revenue, and strengthen long-term sustainability.
The ReStore will close on April 10th for the transition. It is expected to reopen at its new location at 680 Commercial Street on April 15th, with hours remaining Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Phone numbers for both Midcoast Habitat for Humanity and the ReStore will remain the same at 207-236-6123.
As Midcoast Habitat continues developing pocket neighborhoods and expanding affordable housing, the new facility will provide much-needed space for staff, volunteers, and operations to improve efficiency and effectiveness across all programs.
In addition to an expanded ReStore and administrative offices, this building will allow us to grow into community programming hub, creating opportunities resource sharing among local nonprofits and social service providers.
“In a rural region like ours, organizations are often spread out and not always connected,” said Anderson. “By bringing partners together under one roof, we can strengthen communication, reduce duplication of services, and better support the people we collectively serve.”
Midcoast Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability, and self-reliance by partnering with local families to create safe, decent, and permanently affordable homes.
More details, including related announcements and opportunities to engage with the new space, will be shared in the coming weeks.
