Masks still required inside

Rockland Public Library lifts time, capacity limits May 24

ROCKLAND — Based upon CDC and State of Maine recommendations, beginning on Monday, May 24 the Rockland Public Library will lift time and capacity limits for library use. Masks will still be required inside of the Library, and currently only the main level of the library remains open.

The Library also shares the news that the main level of the Library interior is about to be re-painted and the carpeting replaced. This does mean that areas of the collection will be unavailable for borrowing and public PCs will be inaccessible, for a week or so each, as the painters move through the building, according to the Library, in a news release. However, the interlibrary loan service will still be available, so patrons can use the Minerva or MaineCat system to request items which may be temporarily unavailable in Rockland.

The plan is for carpet replacement (supply chain dependent) to follow, carpeting each area just after it is painted. For additional information and a more detailed schedule, see the Library website and Facebook page.

“The staff recognize that this project will cause some temporary inconvenience, and asks for patience while the Library is freshened up for use and enjoyment by the community,” said RPL.

Rockland Public Library is located at 80 Union St.

The Library’s current open hours are: Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 AM - 5 PM, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 10 AM to 5:30 PM, and Saturdays: 10 AM - 1 PM.

The Library continues to offer curbside service upon request. For more information, please call 594-0310.
