Probation revocation arrest warrant leads to drug trafficking charge for Belfast man

    BELFAST — A Belfast man has been charged with drug trafficking after police located him due to outstanding warrants for arrest. 

    Michael Ames, 37, was located and arrested on Crocker Road in Belfast, according to Waldo County Sheriff’s  Lieutenant Cody Laite’s media release. 

    The incident occurred March 28, at approximately 2:50 p.m., when law enforcement arrived at a Crocker Road residence to carry out the arrest. After apprehending Ames, a search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence. 

    Evidence seized from the home resulted in Ames being charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, a class B felony, according to the release. 

    Ames will remain in custody pending his initial court appearance, which is scheduled for March 29, at 1 p.m.

    Laite concluded the release by thanking the members of the Belfast Police Department for their assistance with the incident.
