'PoeTREE' celebrates trees at Camden amphitheater event
Event Date
Saturday, May 30, 2026 - 01:00 pm to 02:30 pmThe Camden Conservation Commission, the Camden Public Library and Tree Corps will host PoeTREE, an outdoor celebration of trees, music, and poetry, on Saturday, May 30, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., at the Camden Public Library Amphitheater.
The event highlights Camden’s longstanding commitment to its trees, according to the Library, in a news release. Designated a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation since 1996, Camden has spent more than three decades preserving and enhancing its tree canopy.
PoeTREE is part of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program and will include the planting of a new tree, along with information about the town’s Tree Program, which has added more than 100 shade trees to public spaces.
The program will also feature live music by Louisa Stancioff and readings of poetry inspired by trees. Community members are invited to participate by reading a favorite tree-related poem or sharing original work. A limited number of reading spots are available; those interested may sign up in advance by emailing samanthaleec@gmail.com.
The event is free and open to the public.
