Oceanside softball swings past Camden Hills

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside and Camden Hills varsity softball teams squared off on the diamond in Rockland on Wednesday, May 22. 

The game, ultimately, was won by Oceanside 8-3. 

Oceanside improved its record to 12-2, while Camden Hills slipped to 0-14. 

Up next for Oceanside will be a road contest against Lincoln Academy on Friday, May 24 at 4 p.m.

Up next for Camden Hills will be a road contest against Medomak Valley on Friday, May 24 at 4 p.m.

Camden Hills plated two runs in the opening inning and one in the second, while collecting six hits and committing two errors. 

Oceanside plated a run in the second frame, three in the third and four in the sixth. The Mariners recorded seven hits. 

In the pitcher’s circle for Camden Hills was Olivia Brown, who fanned two batters, walked five and hit two in six innings. 

In the pitcher’s circle for Oceanside were Adrianna Whitemore (two innings, two strikeouts, three walks) and Chloe Jones (five innings, 10 strikeouts, one walk). 

At the plate for Camden Hills were Anna McFarland (double, two singles, RBI) and Grace O’Connell (double). 

At the plate for Oceanside were Whitemore (double, two singles, four RBIs), Abby Veilleux (single, RBI, run), Jones (single, run), Rachel Joyce (single, run) and Grace Pratt (single, run).
