Jones tosses no-hitter, Oceanside softball slides past Morse

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity softball team hosted Morse for a Monday, April 29 showdown. 

Thanks to Oceanside senior ace pitcher Chloe Jones tossing a no-hitter, the host Mariners were able to collect a 2-1 victory. 

With the win, the Mariners improved its record to 4-1. 

Oceanside’s two runs came in the sixth inning, while Morse’s lone run came in the fourth. 

Oceanside tallied three hits, while Morse had no hits. 

Morse committed one error. Oceanside did not commit an error. 

Dory Kulis fanned six batters in the pitcher’s circle for Morse. 

In the pitcher’s circle, Chloe Jones fanned 13 batters and walked three during her no-hit performance for Oceanside. 

“Chloe Jones continues to impress, she threw very well getting all her pitches over for strikes,” said Oceanside head coach Rusty Worcester. 

Collecting hits for Oceanside were Jessica Watkinson (single, two RBIs), Abby Veilleux (single), Autumn Harvey (single). Veilleux tallied one stolen base. 

“These young ladies pulled out a very nice victory against a good team,” Worcester stated. “I'm very proud of this team and their development.”
