Jones tosses no-hitter, Oceanside softball blanks Lincoln Academy

ROCKLAND — The Oceanside varsity softball team hosted Lincoln Academy in Rockland on Wednesday, May 8. 

By the game’s end, Oceanside had collected a 6-0 victory thanks to a no-hitter tossed by senior ace pitcher Chloe Jones. 

Oceanside plated a run in each the second and fifth innings, while also tallying a pair of runs in each the third and fourth frames. 

Oceanside collected six hits and committed no errors. 

Lincoln Academy committed two errors and recorded no hits. 

With the victory, Oceanside improved its record to 8-1. 

Oceanside will hit the road for its next contest Thursday, May 9 against Hermon at 4:30 p.m.

Payson Kaler pitched for Lincoln Academy and fanned seven batters while walking six. 

Jones fanned 12 batters, walked one, allowed one-hit-by-pitch and allowed zero hits in the pitcher’s circle for Oceanside. 

The no-hitter for Jones was her second of the season. 

At the plate for Oceanside were Raechel Joyce (two singles, RBI), Abby Veilleux (double, four stolen bases), Jones  (double, RBI), Lily Judeki (single) and Jessica Watkinson (single). 

“It was an overall great defensive game with our offense improving and bats coming together more and more each inning,” said Oceanside assistant softball coach Rachel Burns.
