Medomak Valley High School Girls Soccer teams beat Gardiner, both games 1 to 0
What a beautiful fall Saturday it was, Oct. 11, for a soccer game at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro. The sun was out and it was 60 degrees F with the foliage all around.
People were not looking at the leaves though, as this was a very interesting and fun game to watch between the two girls varsity soccer teams of Medomak and Gardiner High School.
The game was scoreless until just about the 20- mark left in the second half.
Haylee Chandler, on the Medomak team, scored on a direct kick giving MVHS the lead of 1 to 0, which stayed for the remainder of the contest.
Medomak goalie Chloe Fox had 10 saves with 10 shots on goal.
The Gardiner goalie had 14 saves with 17 shots.
Medomak had 2 corner kicks and 8 direct kicks.
Gardiner had 2 corner kicks and 8 direct kicks and 1 indirect kick.
This was a back and forth match with Medomak the victor at a score of 1 to 0.
The JV girls game was full of action, as well. Medomak the victor in that game, off a lone goal by Remi Winchenbach off a beautiful pass from Sydney Boggs.
Medomak won 1 to 0 as well, the same score as the varsity game.
Medomak versus Morse, Oct. 8
The Medomak Varsity Girls soccer team put on a show at Morse Thursday night, Oct. 9, under the lights.
They were able to put up 6 goals to beat Morse 6 to 0.
Medomak scored 3 in the first half and 3 in the second half.
The first goal was scored in the first 30 seconds of the game. Anna Cheesman passed the ball to Haylee Chandler who then distributed the ball to Scarlett Flint and Flint found the back of the net giving MVHS the early lead of 1 to 0.
About 8 minutes later, Cheeman took the ball back and crossed it to Flint ,who again found the back of the net making it 2 to 0 MVHS.
Then with a little more than 8 minutes left in the half Flint scored on a through ball from Grace Townsend giving her a hat tick and it was 3 to 0 at the half.
The second half was much like the first with Medomak dominating the play.
Chandler scored off two straight corner kicks the first one at the 12 minute mark left in the game and the second with 10 and half minutes left in the game. She was able to bend the ball in both times and score 2 in a row for Meodmak giving them the lead 5 to 0.
The final goal came with less than 3 minutes left in the game when Cheesman was just outside of the 18 and hit it high and tight and into the back of the net it went, sealing the deal for Medomak 6 to 0.
Morses goalie had 8 saves in the first half and 4 in the second.Medomak had 21 shots on goal, 8 total corners and 1 direct kick.
Chloe Fox Medomak's goalie had 4 saves in the first and 1 in the second.
Morse had 5 shots on goal, 2 corners and 4 direct kicks.
The JV game for Medomak was much of the same, dominating play of the game.
Sidney Boggs scored with 6 minutes left in the first half giving Medomak the lead 1 to 0.
Morse remained scoreless in the first half.
Medomak scored in the second half with about 8 minutes left in the game to increase their lead 2 to 0 on a goal by Haddee Brown. About 4 minutes later Morse was able to find the back of the net making the game a little closer, 2 to 1 Medomak.
Medomak was able to hold onto the lead and win the game 2 to 1.
