Maine Association of Realtors honors Martin Cates for commitment to industry and community
The Maine Association of Realtors has named Martin Cates, a long-time member of the Midcoast community, the 2025 Maine State Realtor of the Year.
“Martin embodies the spirit of this award through his deep commitment to our industry, his leadership, and his ongoing service to both realtors and the communities we serve,” said Victoria Condon, President of the Mid-Coast Board of Realtors, in a news release. “His thoughtful approach, steady leadership, and willingness to give back have made a lasting impact—not just here in the Midcoast, but across Maine.”
Cates has served as a Director of the Maine Association of Realtors and served in many volunteer positions for not only the state association but also the statewide multiple listing service, Maine Listings. For the past 10 years, he has devoted his expertise and energy to Maine Listings, serving as a director and then stepping up into the executive leadership team. In 2022 he served as the Maine Listings President and continued his service on every committee and task force during his leadership tenure.
Martin continues to volunteer his time to the Maine Listings Technology Committee and Policies and Procedures Committee, dedicated to ensuring the statewide MLS remains at the forefront of the industry, not only in Maine, but nationally.
Martin currently serves as the Director of Mid Coast Regional Housing Trust and is on the Knox County Board of Assessment Review.
The State Realtor of the Year recipient is chosen from among the 11 nominees of local associations and more than 6,400 realtors in Maine. The award recognizes a realtor for their contributions to the real estate profession on state, local and national levels. The Mid-Coast Board of Realtors serves real estate professionals throughout the Midcoast, providing resources, education, and advocacy to support ethical, informed, and community-centered real estate practice.
