Henderson, Pease place first for Windjammers in state wrestling championships
SANFORD — The Camden Hills wrestling team traveled to Sanford to compete Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Class A state wrestling championships.
Two Windjammers won individual crowns while three more placed at states.
Camden Hills finished fourth in the meet with 71 points, behind Noble (110), Massabesic (89) and Sanford (72).
Results
113 pounds: Aaliyah Ten Broeck pinned by James Blood (Sanford) and pinned by Sam Lafavor (Cony/Messalonskee).
126 pounds: Julian Henderson pinned Frank Barton (Oxford Hills), pinned Daniel Bengi (Portland/South Portland) and defeated Eliah Farias (Gardiner). Henderson placed first.
132 pounds: Landon Pease pinned Adam Dumont (Noble), defeated Domenick Smith (Biddeford/Thornton) and defeated Zack Nelson (Bonny Eagle). Pease placed first.
138 pounds: Michael Rollins pinned Drew Wedgewood (Biddeford/Thornton), pinned by Trevor Perkins (Bonny Eagle), defeated Aidan Hashem (Marshwood) and pinned by Kyle Doody (Gardiner). Rollins placed fourth.
145 pounds: Conor Pease lost to Jack Harriman (Massabesic), pinned Hunter Wormwood (Oxford Hills), defeated Elan “Moose” Keys (Kennebunk) and lost to Cody Bubier (Marshwood). Pease placed fourth.
160 pounds: Justin Batty pinned Landon Vallee (Biddeford/Thornton), pinned by Dominick Bubar (Massabesic), defeated Jack Anderson (Marshwood) and lost to Isaiah Morin (Nokomis). Batty placed fourth.
170 pounds: Vincent Mainella pinned by Hentry Spencer (Portland/South Portland) and pinned by Caleb Thrill (Kennebunk).
182 pounds: Riley Turner-Watts lost to Andrew Balgley (Cheverus/Falmouth), pinned Jason Bagley (Mt. Blue) and lost to Finn O’Donnell (Portland/South Portland).
195 pounds: Cecil White pinned by Pedro Lombi (Deering) and pinned by Indi Backman (Cheverus/Falmouth).
