Happy Wanderers to explore Fernalds Neck Preserve
Join Maine Health’s Community Health program and Coastal Mountains Land Trust for a Happy Wanderers Hike on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m., at the Fernalds Neck Preserve.
This is a moderate 3.1-mile loop, which includes hemlock groves, glacial erratics, stands of mature pines. This preserve is known to provide a plethora of mushrooms, at this time of year. If some participants feel like a shorter hike, there will be an opportunity to make this hike a 2-mile loop.
Hunting is not allowed on this preserve, but hunter orange is still encouraged. Please note, dogs are not allowed on this preserve.
Directions: From Lincolnville Center, take Rt. 52 south for 2 miles, then turn right onto Fernalds Neck road. Follow this road to its end, staying left at the fork. From Camden, take Rt. 52/Mountain Street north for 5.8 miles, turning left onto Fernalds Neck Road. Please drive slowly and use the parking lot, so there aren’t any vehicles parked along the road.

Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 13,000 acres, offering 55 miles of trails for public recreation.
