WALDOBORO — The Medomak and Great Salt Bay middle school girls soccer teams met on the pitch in Waldoboro for a regular season finale Friday, Oct. 4.

After a nail-biting second half, the visitors collected a 3-2 victory.

Great Salt Bay captured an early lead on a Maya Cannon goal, who would score again for the visitors to create a 2-0 game at the halftime break.

The host Riverhawks appeared on the scoreboard with seven minutes of the game remaining when Sara Nelson tallied a goal.

Two minutes, later Ryleigh Rainey tied the contest at 2-2.

“Her shot was a nice hard on left side of the field one touch that flew into the top left corner of the goal,” said Medomak coach Andrea Williamson.

With just under two minutes on the clock, Katherine McKenney scored the game winning goal for Great Salt Bay off an initial shot on goal by Cannon.
