Depot Street in Union closes for an hour following afternoon crash
UNION — Assistant Union Fire Chief Nick Ciasullo arrived on scene to a two vehicle crash in Union just in time to prevent a wide load from driving into the crash scene. Unable to turn around, the drivers of the three-vehicle wide load caravan stood together next to their vehicles for more than an hour until the crash vehicles had been removed.
Depot Street in Union was closed to all traffic following the crash that occured near 500 Depot Street, just prior to 3:15 p.m., June 17, 2025. Union firefighters blocked the road at Ayer Park; Warren firefighters closed their end of the road at Western. Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Ciasullo, the operator of a pickup truck attempted to get out of the way of a car by driving into the ditch, but was still unable to avoid contact.
Union's two ambulances transported all three patients (one rig transported two). Warren Ambulance was called for the third patient, but was canceled when two of the patients were given clearance to ride together. Knox County Sheriff's deputies investigated the crash and All Directions hauled the vehicles away, one at a time.
