Washington man, passenger Lifeflighted to trauma hospital following Jefferson crash
JEFFERSON — A resident of Washington and his passenger were transported by air following a motor vehicle collision on Route 17, in Jefferson, Friday afternoon.
On Friday, June 20, 2025, at 5:04 p.m. the Lincoln County Communications Center recieved a report of a head-on motor vehicle collision on Rt 17 (Rockland Road) in Jefferson in front of Maritime Farms (Peaslee’s Store).
Initial response to the scene came from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Waldoboro EMS, the Jefferson Fire Department, and the Whitefield Fire Department. About ten minutes later, the Union Fire Dept. and Union Rescue were requested to assist to the scene.
The preliminary investigation showed that a gray 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander operated by Hayden Sevey, 52 of Sandford, was eastbound on Rt 17 (Rockland Road), according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, in a news release. Sevey allegedly attempted to turn left into Maritime Farms while a 1959 red Chevrolet Corvette was westbound on Rt 17. This vehicle was operated by Gregory Boynton, 59 of Washington (Maine). The two vehicles collided almost head on, according to LCSO.
Sevey, the sole occupant of his vehicle, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Boynton, and his passenger, Michelle Levesque, 57 of West Gardiner, were transported by LifeFlight to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with serious injuries.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
"Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor," said LCSO. Though, "Preliminary investigation indicates the Sevey vehicle’s failure to yield as a factor in the crash."
The collision is being reconstructed by LCSO Accident Reconstructionist Deputy Ethan Burns and Detective Brian Carlton from Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.
The road was shut down for several hours to traffic during the investigation. The scene was cleared at around 8:20 p.m.
Deputy Mark Fortin is the primary investigator.
